OECD report launch — Taming Wildfires in Portugal

I took part in the launch event for the OECD report examining Portugal as a case study on taming wildfires in the context of climate change.
The report looks at how Portugal has restructured its approach to wildfire risk since the severe 2017 fire season — the creation of AGIF, the shift toward integrated fire management, and the policy tools put in place to reduce structural vulnerability rather than just respond to fires once they start.
For a country that has historically been reactive, it was a useful external check on whether the reforms of the last few years are holding up — and where the gaps still are.
